Adult Services District Nursing Team

District Nursing teams work across the city of Hull to provide nursing care to adults over the age of 18 years who are housebound and require nursing care.

Planned care is provided, depending on the need of the patient, in a variety of settings.

The team also responds to unplanned calls from patients and carers.

Some of the services the team provide include:

  • Assessment of health nursing needs
  • Palliative and terminal care
  • Wound and leg ulcer management
  • Pressure area care
  • Clinical screening e.g. taking blood samples
  • Vaccinations i.e. influenza and pneumonia
  • Post-operative care
  • Continence assessment and catheter care
  • Training and support of carers
  • Loan of nursing equipment following an assessment of need

Ambulant patients have access to nurse-led clinics across the city via an appointment system.

A 24-hour service is provided and we have an open referral system for GP practices, hospitals and other healthcare professionals and organisations as well as patients and carers.

Evening and Out Of Hours Calls should be placed to the Out of Hours team on 01482 335495.
